In our Q&A with Marc Rudisill, a Reiki healer, he discussed what he does and how we can all find more balance in our lives.
You're a reiki master and spiritual coach. Can you tell us how you started and what these titles mean?
As a Reiki Master and Spiritual Life Coach, I guide individuals to release emotional and psychological blocks, enabling them to explore their fullest and most abundant life. Through Reiki, I work with universal life force energy to restore balance and well-being. As a Spiritual Life Coach, I mentor individuals and groups to deepen their understanding of their place in the world and how they interact and connect with others. By offering new perspectives and guidance, I help clients navigate key areas of life—relationships, family, and finances—empowering them to align with their true selves, achieve inner harmony, and live their dreams.
What can a person expect if they've never been to a reiki session?
During a Reiki session, clients experience deep relaxation, enhanced by vibrational instruments that create calming frequencies. The session begins with a brief meditation to charge the space with positive energy. If in person, the client lies fully clothed on a massage table while I call in spiritual energy and scan the body, without touching, for any issues or blockages. Sessions can also be performed remotely. Clients often feel warmth as the energy passes over them. I then work to release negative energy, which may result in tingling sensations, involuntary twitches, or emotional release. After the session, I debrief with the client, discussing observations and potential next steps; often, more than one session is needed. I emphasize the transformative possibilities arising from the session, ensuring the client feels supported and understood along this journey.
When would you recommend someone see a Reiki healer, and what are the benefits associated with it?
People often seek Reiki healers when they are under significant stress or experiencing emotional pain, particularly in areas like work, money, and relationships. These issues often intersect, such as dealing with an unbearable boss or a chaotic intimate relationship. Alleviating stress in these areas can significantly improve the person’s overall life and well-being. For instance, if someone is struggling with a difficult boss, I would explore their conflict resolution skills and how these were shaped in childhood. I then provide healthy detachment techniques, helping the individual manage stress more effectively. This not only boosts productivity but also empowers them to recognize their full potential, whether in their current role or by pursuing better opportunities.
Are there things we can do daily to help us find more balance and healing?
There are two daily practices I recommend for finding balance. First, connect with nature whenever possible, even if it’s just a short walk. Listen to the birds, feel the sun, and touch a tree. You don’t need to hug it; simply being near it can center you through its calming frequency. If nature isn’t accessible, try nurturing a plant. Caring for a plant teaches you about the balance needed in life. I once had a friend who struggled with relationships because he gave too much without expecting anything in return. Later, he mentioned that his plants always died because he overwatered them. I helped him see the connection between his relationships and plant care—overpouring into anything can suffocate it. He joked that I saved him years of therapy, to which I replied that what I do complements, not replaces, therapy.
Second, I recommend daily journaling to declutter the mind and gain perspective on where you are in life. Journaling can reveal how your subconscious guides you and can free you from everyday pressures, allowing you to be at your best.
