For the start of Pride Month, we connected with Ty Collier, founder of Queerencia, an LGBTQIA+ lifestyle brand.
What is Queerencia, and what inspired you to start it?
Queerencia is my passion project, born from a deep desire to create a brand that celebrates LGBTQIA+ pride and fosters a sense of belonging. Inspired by my own journey and experiences, I wanted to build a space where everyone feels empowered to express their true selves authentically.
Running a company has its good times and bad. Can you briefly touch on how you've overcome a challenge and how you celebrate a company win?
As the founder, I've faced my fair share of challenges in running Queerencia. In entrepreneurship you wear so many hats and finding a work life balance can be extremely challenging. But through perseverance, creativity, and the unwavering support from the LGBTQIA+ community, we've overcome every hurdle that's come our way. And when we achieve a milestone or reach a goal, we celebrate by acknowledging the hard work and dedication that got us there. It's a moment to reflect, express gratitude, and savor the victories, big and small.
If you had to choose, what's one beauty or health-related product you can't live without?
When it comes to beauty and health, there's one product that's non-negotiable for me: sunscreen. As someone who values taking care of my skin, sunscreen is an essential part of my daily routine. It not only protects my skin from sun damage but also helps maintain a healthy glow.
Is there a charity or nonprofit organization that benefits the LGBTQIA+ community you support, and others should, too?
Supporting the LGBTQIA+ community is not just a professional commitment for me; it's deeply personal. That's why I'm proud to actively support Kaleidoscope Youth Center. Their work resonates with me on a profound level, and I encourage everyone to join me in supporting their vital mission. Together, we can make a difference and create a more inclusive and accepting world for all.
